Member Background
Henryka Bochniarz, Vice President of Boeing International and President of Boeing Central and Eastern Europe since July 2006. She is responsible for representing the company's business interests and coordinating business activities in Bosnia, Bulgaria, Croatia, the Czech Republic, Hungary, Kosovo, Montenegro, Poland, Romania, Serbia, Slovakia and Slovenia. Prior to joining Boeing, Bochniarz was president and co-owner of Nicom Consulting Ltd., one of the first Polish consulting companies she created in the 1990s. Since 1999 she is president of the Lewiatan Polish Confederation of Private Employers. She also serves as vice-chairwoman of the Tripartite Commission for social and economic issues and as vice-president of Business Europe, the largest organization of employers in the European Union. She participates in the works of the Enterprise Policy Group, an advisory group for economic policy of the European Union and is the chairwoman of the Polish-Japanese Economic Committee, which promotes the development of the Polish-Japanese economic co-operation.
In 1991, Bochniarz served as Minister of Industry and Trade. Bochniarz is active in several civic organizations, including being vice-chairwoman of Stanis?aw Ignacy Witkiewicz Arts Foundation and a co-founder of the "Nike" Literature Prize for the best book of the year. She is the recipient of numerous awards, including the 2005 International Women's Forum in Olsztyn "Woman of Success of Warmia and Mazury" award. In 2003, she co-authored a book with Jacek Santorski entitled "Bądź sobą i wygraj - 10 podpowiedzi dla aktywnej kobiety" (Be yourself and win – ten hints for an active woman). She graduated from the Foreign Trade Faculty at the Main School of Planning and Statistics (SGPiS) in Warsaw and holds a PhD in economics.
