Hüsnü M. Özyeǧin, Board President is the founder of Finansbank and Özyeǧin University in Turkey. Mr. Özyeǧin began his academic career at Robert College in Istanbul, and earned a degree in civil engineering from Oregon State University as well as an MBA from Harvard Business School. Upon his return from the United States, he assumed several managerial positions. He established Finansbank, Turkey's fifth-largest private bank, which he sold in 2005 to the National Bank of Greece for US$2.76 billion. In 2005, as part of his foundation work, he created scholarships and provided supplied textbooks to more than 7,000 needy students.
Company Information
Hüsnü M. Özyeǧin Foundation was launched in 1990 by Mr. Hüsnü M. Özyeǧin to undertake activities and provide aid in social, economic, financial, cultural, and educational areas, and to contribute to Turkey's ongoing development efforts. In addition to providing scholarships to students studying in Turkey and abroad, the foundation builds primary schools, high schools and dormitories for girls while also supporting projects in the areas of healthcare and culture. In 2007 the foundation founded Özyeǧin University.
Focus on Women's Empowerment
As part of Mr. Özyeǧin's commitment to advancing girls' education, he supported the establishment of 36 schools and girl's dormitories. Through his wife's foundation, Acev, Mr. Özyeǧin has also helped pay for women's literacy and early education programs in poor parts of Turkey.
