Yang Lan, CEO, is one of China's most successful women entrepreneurs and renowned TV host. She won China's most prestigious award for television comperes in China, "The Golden Microphone" while working with CCTV in 1994. She studied and worked in the USA in the mid 1990s and then worked for Phoenix TV in Hong Kong. She left there in 1999 and became the chairperson of Board of Directors and producer of Sun Television Cybernetworks.

Sun Media Investment Holdings LTD ("SMIH") is a media investment company that was founded in 1998-99 by the popular Chinese TV program host Ms. Yang Lan and her husband Dr. Bruno Wu. They invest in six key areas of media: television, publishing, sports marketing, education, advertising and financial news. SMIH has direct interests in 11 media companies through which it holds shares in more than 30 media operations, controlling no less than 60 media brands in 9 countries and 15 cities. SMIH investments include TV productions, Chinese language cable and satellite channels in Mainland China, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Southeast Asia, Australia and North America.
Focus on Women's Empowerment
Ms. Lan is committed to the economic and social progress of Chinese women. The company has weekly TV shows and a wildly popular website, Her Village for Chinese professional women, and it conducts regular surveys on the needs and concerns of Chinese working women.
Her Village is today China's largest on-line community for professional women. It encompasses a vast network of TV talk shows focused on the interests of women. The topics covered also appear online in multimedia form through a magazine, called LAN The shows help promote positive female role models through programs such as awarding prizes for top businesswomen. The company has also launched a women's credit card in cooperation with one of China's leading commercial banks to facilitate purchases by the women that are part of the Her Village network.
