PSLF Represented at Inter-Government Meetings in Vienna

Speaking at the Inter-Agency Network on Women and Gender Equality and the OECD-DAC Network on Gender Equality (GENDERNET) Meetings in Vienna this February, Tess Mateo of PwC and Claudia Belmont of Belcorp described their companies' activities to promote women's economic empowerment. Both companies are part of the PSLF. Tess underscored the potential of public-private partnerships and cited the involvement of the World Bank secretariat in the PSLF in helping influence the agenda of the World Business Council on Sustainable Development Vision 2050 process. Some 200 companies that belong to the Council will now help promote Vision 2050, where the introductory paragraph underscores the critical importance of women's education and economic empowerment.

McKinsey Makes the Case for Empowering Women
January 2010
McKinsey & Company, a member company of the PSLF, recently published a study on gender as part of their commitment to the Forum. The business of empowering women presents a case for why and how the private sector should intensify its engagement in the economic empowerment of women in developing countries. The research makes a clear business case for investing in women and offers a roadmap for companies to build a strategic investment portfolio in women's issues.
